Harshad completed his Ph.D. degree at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT in September 2013. Before that, he graduated from IIT-Bombay with a B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering. During his Ph.D., he worked as a research assistant in the International Center for Air Transportation (ICAT) and the Laboratory for Aviation and the Environment (LAE).
At present, Harshad works as a scientist with the research division of TATA Consultancy Services, in Mumbai (India). He is also a visiting associate professor at IIT-Bombay. Prior to this, he was with IBM research in Bangalore for about 2 years. His primary research focus is on using control theory, probability, and machine learning to develop control algorithms for networked systems. He also has experience in the domains of air transportation, railways, supply chain, logistics, and renewable energy systems.
