I received my Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru in 2022 from the lab of Prof. Sheeba Vasu, where I studied how ambient warm temperature affects timing of activity and rest behaviour in the fly species Drosophila melanogaster. Thereafter, I joined Prof. Paul Garrity at Brandeis University, USA in 2023, where my aim is to generate genetic tools to study mechanisms underlying behaviours displayed by the vector mosquito species Aedes aegypti. I am broadly interested in neurobiology and the molecular bases of animal behaviours, including technology advances in neuroscience. I also deeply resonate with ideas for advocacy, inclusivity and awareness at the workplace that can enable meaningful mentoring experiences for young researchers and am part of a committee that engages in such activities in my current Institute. Through my association with Sci-ROI, I hope to connect with a broad set of people in my fields of interest within and outside academia, who can help me and those like me prepare for career roles that we see ourselves in after transitioning to India in a few years.
