I am a computational biologist involved in using mathematical models to study metabolism in biological systems. In my current role as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Plant Scientists, University of Oxford, I use metabolic models to develop a better understanding of plant metabolism in order to devise metabolic engineering strategies for increased crop yield. My current research is supported by the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) through the Crops in silico (Cis) project. I first heard about SciROI in 2021 from a collaborator who recently moved back to India and attended the 2021 annual event. As someone who has always planned on returning to India and setting up his own lab, I instantly recognized the value of the work SciROI was undertaking and decided to join the SciROI volunteer team to help with the cause.
