Swarnalok De earned his Master’s degree in Microbial Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He was subsequently selected for the Erasmus Mundus BRAVE Program (Plant Virology on a New Era – Breeding for Resistance), where he pursued a PhD in Plant Virology as part of the Doctoral Program in Plant Science at the University of Helsinki (2014–2019).
In 2020, Swarnalok was awarded a one-year postdoctoral grant by The Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation, joining the ‘Multifunctional Materials Design’ research group to explore the material science applications of potato virus A nanoparticles. Currently, his research, supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, focuses on developing wearable sensors for monitoring physiological signals.
