Her consultation begins at the stage of idea inception, building product differentiation, carving out a niche, IP space to life cycle management. Dr. Kripa’s strong academic background is supplemented by her extensive experience in R&D and IP experience. Kripa received her PhD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA, followed by a stint as a postdoctoral researcher at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She then pursued IP law at the National University of Singapore (NUS) while training as a Patent Attorney at the UK-based Marks and Clerk, Singapore. Dr. Kripa also holds an LLB (Hons) from India. Given her background in applied research, in-depth knowledge of biological sciences and patent expertise, she consults many academic institutions and biotech start-ups to formulate strategies for translating basic science discoveries into products.

In this episode we feature Dr. Himanshu Gogoi, an Assistant Professor from Amity University, sharing about his transition journey into Indian academia. Dr. Gogoi started his research career with an M.Sc. in Physical Chemistry from Delhi University, in 2013. He then joined the PhD program at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, in 2013. He worked on synthesizing nanoparticle adjuvants with varying crystallinity and studying its effect in antigen binding. He then moved to the University of Florida in 2018 for a postdoctoral stint under Prof. Lei Jin. working on immuno-senescence and vaccine-induced immune response against respiratory pathogens, and role of MPYS in fatty acid metabolism and deciphering the role of lung dendritic cell to maintain tolerance. He was awarded with the Department of Health Research – Young Scientist Award in 2019. After his successful postdoctoral training, Dr. Gogoi joined Amity University, Jaipur in June 2022 as an Assistant Professor.

We are proud to feature Dr. Piyush Behari Lal, an active member of Sci-ROI India’s Leadership Team as he shares his transition journey from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, US to the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India as assistant professor. Dr. Lal started his research career with an M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi in 2005. He then joined the MS-PhD program in microbiology at the University of Texas Dallas, USA in 2008. After getting his PhD, he moved to the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center at University of Wisconsin – Madison for a postdoctoral training, developing genetic tools for Zymomonas mobilis ZM4, a natural ethanologen. Dr. Lal went on to receive the prestigious DBT Ramalingaswami Fellowship in 2021 and finally moved back to India in September 2021.

Dr. Avijit is a cognitive neuroscientist with specialization in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. He obtained his Ph.D. from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 2014 and then went on to receive his post-doctoral trainings, from National University of Singapore and Emory University, Atlanta for more than six years, before he moved back to India in January 2022.
