WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The scientific ecosystem in India has its unique strengths and challenges. Ever wondered how you can tailor your research to fit the needs and challenges in India?

We at Sci-ROI think that transitions can be made easier and fruitful if you can interact with established faculty in India and get feedback about your research ideas and proposal. To this end, we will have a brand new session for 2021 annual event titled ‘STEM in India- Local Problems, Global Solutions’.

During this panel, we will have research experts from 11 diverse disciplines, ranging from life sciences to engineering, in different breakout rooms. Shortlisted attendees can present their research ideas in the form of a 3 minute talk, and get excellent feedback on how to tailor their research in a fruitful way for Indian scientific and funding ecosystem.

Registered for Annual Event

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Interested attendees can register for the annual event and opt to submit a 300-word abstract on their research idea and relevance and implementation in Indian scientific system. Abstract should be written in a way that could be understood by general audience.
Research experts on the following focus areas will be present during the live talks-

For each focus area, maximum 5 abstracts will be shortlisted.
Shortlisted attendees can prepare 3 slides and a 3 minute presentation highlighting their research and tailoring to Indian ecosystem.
3 minute talks will take place in each focus area in separate breakout rooms. An established faculty will be present in that room to provide his/her opinion on the talk.
Any attendee not giving a talk but still interested in participating in the discussion can attend the breakout rooms.
Pre-recorded interviews of the faculty invited for this session will be available before the event. The interview will touch upon their experience transitioning from their post-doctoral training to an academic career, the challenges of setting up a research laboratory, and how their research evolved over the years to meet the local needs and challenges.

TIMELINE

August 9th, 2021 (Monday): Registration portal for Sci-ROI Annual Event opens.

September 6, 2021 (Friday): Last day to submit a 300 word abstract.

September 12, 2021 (Sunday): Shortlisted attendees will be notified of the results.

September 25, 2021 (Saturday): Live 3 minute talk
